There's another boy who was brought up in the western country. He was seen as a bad boy, showing disrespect to teachers, parents and also the friends around.
Soon, both the boys grew up and the boy who grew up with Asian values earned respect from the elderly, the friends around treated him like a good friend because he withheld many disappointments and unpleasant thoughts about them. He was a secret keeper, he kept all his anger and told them nicely, "hey, I think you no do good".
The boy with the 'disrespectful', 'immoral' categorised grew up, fought for the rights of the people, spoke out in the public, made the government angry, made friends realise the unpleasant truth, and soon given a warning, that he was too vocal.
Defender of our rights? Bulwark of our liberties? If we use a 'peacemaker' way to deal with things?
Jesus told the Pharisees off, maybe people who dislike unpleasant truths should take a time machine and tell Jesus that he wasn't a 'peacemaker'.
I'm not defending myself. I know I should just shut up. Probably being vocal is not a gift from God. Believe me, it's a curse. When people around thinks that you're not doing the right thing, they're probably right. Being vocal's not accepted here. I'll just shut up and go. People dislike unpleasant truths. Sugar coat the unpleasant truth, send an anthrax in disguise of a jellybean, we love it.
2 complaints:
